When did you start your journey with IRI ?
I joined IRI as an intern in January 2001 and after a brief period as a fellow I was hired in October 2001.
What department/role did you start in and where are you now on your journey ?
I started working in the Analytics department, in the current Solutions and Innovations (SI) team, focusing on the technical side of analytics. Over the years, I have transformed my 100% technical skills into those more focused on commercial with much more customer contact.
What positive changes have you seen since being here ?
I have learned a lot through the years, personally and professionally, and I have seen how positively I have developed my commercial profile, learning to understand the needs of our clients. At IRI, I have seen how the company has managed to adapt to continuous and new changes in the market, developing all its technological potential and becoming a leading player in the world of consulting and Big Data.
What has been your proudest moment working here ?
Fortunately after so much time, I still find moments to be proud of, and all of them are situations in which I help our clients to improve their positioning in the market through our recommendations. To be able to solve the problems of our customers is really satisfying.
What development have you had since being at IRI ?
I started as an intern in IRI and I am currently a Solutions Manager in SI.
Why would you recommend IRI as a place to work/develop/learn ?
IRI provides opportunities to develop the potential of people, to meet many people, develop contacts and learn and develop the knowledge of many different markets or categories. It is a great school.
I joined IRI in September 2012 as an intern in Data Science EU. After six months – in March 2013 - I was hired as an apprentice in the same team. After 14 months my apprenticeship was made into a permanent contract.
I started in Data Science Europe as a Junior Statistician and now I’m a Data Scientist. Now I manage several projects, mostly across multiple countries.
Since being here, I have seen new projects and new people join IRI; these two elements make me feel and think that we are growing. I can see changes from IRI being a market measurement provider to a technology company.
When I received the Performance Award for achievements in Litmus data integration in 2015.
I had the opportunity to attend a Leadership Development Programme that strengthened my skills and my approach to projects and initiatives.
IRI is a good company with a positive climate; where a culture based on trust in employees is encouraged as well as a work-life balance.
I started in October 2011.
I started as Team Leader in Client Growth Delivered (CGD) before moving to the Retail Growth Delivered Department in January 2016 leading the Woolworths team. A year later, I relocated from Sydney to Melbourne to take on the role of Client Growth Director of CGD.
The greater empowerment of individuals and teams and more focus on client growth. We have moved from a servicing to a consulting mentality. There is more flexibility and greater trust between managers and their teams and a good work/life balance.
The fantastic results achieved by the Melbourne CGD team in 2017, and all done within a happy, collaborative, team culture. We significantly exceeded our revenue target, beating our monthly target 10 out of 12 months.
I participated in an exclusive leadership programme held internally which prepared me for taking on the Melbourne office and leading a large team and budget successfully. This leadership course provided the most memorable and impactful development opportunity for me while at IRI. Its self-leadership philosophy helped make me a much better leader, manager, and honestly a better person.
The people. The ‘one team’ approach. The entrepreneurial spirit of the business. The variety of work. The ongoing challenges; no two days are the same. The empowerment and trust in me to do my job and the personal (and I mean personally tailored to me) development.
I started as a Client Analyst, and am still in this role.
It is great to see people step up in their roles and take more responsibility in my team.
Mastering my Excel skills and managing competing priorities with three of my big clients.
My Excel and technical skills. But also how to build relationships within my team.
I love the team and culture, it’s supportive in every way, and a great training ground after university. You feel connected to this big IRI world and it motivates you to look for what’s beyond New Zealand.
My journey started in 2009 on a project basis, when I was requested to set up new coding accounts and lead a clean up of the existing accounts.
I started in the coding team. My role was to create standard operating procedures which would reduce waste and lead to more speed and accuracy within the team. In the last nine years of working with IRI I have been recognised for my ability to motivate and engage people so that they want to succeed in their work. This has led to numerous promotions. I am currently the Coding Manager for the United Kingdom and Netherlands markets and am responsible for various multidisciplinary teams of 25 full-time employees.
I have seen a positive switch in which coding was perceived as “only” data to a more market-orientated vision. Coding is the foundation that binds our business together; it complements the company’s vision in delivering growth to our clients.
The moment I could step back and see that my teams had become self sufficient and high performing. This allows me to focus and lead them in their personal growth, not just their day-to-day work activities.
I have had the opportunity to follow numerous management studies while working and starting my family. This has allowed me to develop into a leader who maximises the unique qualities of my teams to grow them and the business. This has contributed to me having a personal daily goal: adding value to at least one member of my team every day.
I would recommend IRI as a place to work due to the experiences and personal growth I have had in the last nine years. It is a learning organisation with flexible people who are pioneers.
It’s been two years now since I started to work for IRI France – time has really flown.
I started in, and I am still part of the Client Growth Delivered (CGD) Manufacturer team. I have gained experience through my client portfolio to move up in my business unit and embrace new goals.
Our department, but also the entire IRI France team, has been really willing to create a global environment for the past two years. This is becoming more concrete with the “Learn the different IRI jobs” day in January 2018, but also with different insight sharing projects within the CGD department.
Part of my client portfolio was in a seriously complicated situation when I arrived. The whole partnership was reviewed at the end of our contract. Getting this client to renew with IRI for the next three years was my first successful moment.
My job gave me the opportunity to develop real expertise on the consumer goods markets, and a capacity to analyse, summarise and host key learnings to my clients. I am also gaining in interactive and selling skills to be always more efficient in a client relationship.
My work environment and the flexibility of the company match with my expectations of balance between my job and private life.
I joined IRI and the Analytics Centre of Excellence (ACE) in May 2013.
I started at IRI as a Consultant in the ACE team, initially responsible for the EU and US Store Group team, before my role expanded to when I became Deputy Head of ACE Data team. After three extremely prolific years in ACE, I joined the Greek management team in my current role as Operations Director in September 2016.
There have been several, but I would point out one that I think is the backbone of success. There is an increasingly diffusing people-centric mentality across our company that enables our people to strive for success with an unprecedented passion for winning and to deliver valuable business results.
If I had to glean one noticeable moment in the course of my journey at IRI, it is when during an attempt to raise morale of the team I posed the statement that our biggest achievement as a team was yet to come. It was that instigation that raised the team’s energy levels. I had forgotten this until a colleague reminded me the other day. I felt really proud having the chance to work with colleagues that generally remember the way you made them feel rather than the words you spoke.
During my time at IRI, I have had the chance to cultivate both my personal and professional competencies, but also to work in an environment where I feel that we grow together has been really fascinating.

I began in Client Growth Delivered as a Junior Account Executive. I’m now a Senior Account Executive.
I’ve seen our business accelerate from a locally focused player into a world-class competitive business. This has been through the introduction of modern technology, slick corporate branding, international support and investment, and the addition of advanced analytical capabilities. With that has come an exciting shift in adjusting our ways of thinking, approaching challenges and innovating.
I think it’s every time I get to stand up in front of a client, with a set of exceptional, innovative and interesting slides developed by a team of analysts – who have become solid friends – and knowing that what we do is among the best that is out there.
The transition has been exponential – I’m now more confident, capable and competent in large client forums, trusting the data and technical skills to add realistic and meaningful recommendations – something that was very intimidating at first! Technically, the learning has been immensely enjoyable, and it has been so rewarding to be able to challenge myself analytically to innovate and create.
There is a great staff culture and people focus, meaning the environment is friendly and highly enjoyable. There’s also the intellectual challenge that comes with the work – there is always room to challenge the norm and take ownership.
I joined IRI in 2006 in our Client Growth Delivered Manufacturer department.
After a period of internship, I was engaged to support our commercial team dealing with small and medium clients, and then with multinational companies. In 2011, I joined the New Business team and I am now Strategic Business Development Account Manager in the same group.
Mainly in my personal and professional development. The focus of my role is to win potential clients, so I have had to learn to deal with different people, situations and needs. My abilities in multi-tasking, flexibility, challenging attitude and time management, have greatly improved.
I have three moments:
When I received a local award for my performance, which was celebrated by the management team.
When we win a new client, it is both a company and a personal success.
Being involved in the foundation of the IRI football team, which includes a group of colleagues and supporters from different departments.
My three job rotations within the commercial department gave me the chance to deal with all kinds of clients: small and medium, national and multinational or potential clients and to cover different roles and develop new skills.
The IRI culture is one where there is flexibility and trust in your work. It’s a smart and dynamic company where relationships are positive.
I started my journey around 12 years ago in 2006.
From the beginning I have worked in the Fragrance/Prestige Cosmetics team. I started as a Junior Consultant, but now lead role the whole team as Director.
We have made continuous and strong progress in providing our clients with really helpful market insights meeting our “growth delivered” affirmation.
Since there is no particular single moment, the most delightful experience for me is when clients really recognise our market expertise and carefully listen to what we say, both in terms of hard facts and by discussing future trends and challenges.
Besides continuously stepping up the career path to my current role, I have learned a lot about how markets work and what impact launch engagements, media activities and promotions have. Knowing every single product by name, scent and function, has also changed my private shopping behaviour.
We work in an inspiring and hugely dynamic company. There are a great variety of opportunities to build knowledge and the exchange of experiences between people is vital. I really can say that I have never seen a company with such a strong team spirit as IRI. In my opinion this makes us unique and different.
I started at IRI in October 2016 on a temporary basis, and was then taken on permanently in February 2017..
I work in the UK finance department as a finance assistant, and I am looking to take on more responsibility as time goes on.
We have been awarded the Investors in People accreditation, which shows we are serious about creating a great place to work for our employees.
For me, the proudest moment working here was getting involved in different projects as a focus group for the Values Awards and Investors in People.
I have undertaken some internal training such as Excel courses to benefit and develop work performance. I am also taking the opportunity to study towards an ACCA qualification to become an accountant.
IRI is a good place to work because of the people here. I also get a lot of support from my line manager and the human resources department, via the learning centre which offers courses to support you. At the same time there are opportunities for you to develop and learn across the company and as it grows, you will develop too.

Susana started her IRI journey in February 2010 and was responsible for the US Marketing Mix team. Within five years Susana was promoted numerous times and challenged with constant change in her responsibilities but she remained resilient taking it all in her stride. Being a company that recognises and rewards hard work, Susana was awarded with the annual CEO award for her dedication and commitment in 2013. Susana currently works as an EMEA Analytics Solution Architect & Product Manager.
The great thing at IRI according to Susana is that “innovation is always encouraged”. Knowing employees can put forward ideas that will genuinely be considered and adopted – this is really motivating.
Susana has had many “proud moments” while working at IRI but the standout occasion was when Susana and her team were able to develop a new analytical solution for specific retailers. It solved many problems but also opened up doors to provide bespoke solutions for all retailers. Development at IRI is not only focused around technical skills but for Susana the key learning was around what she describes as “softer skills” such as creative thinking and emotional intelligence.

Kate embarked on her journey at IRI in 2014 but had worked for seven years previously with Aztec in New Zealand and Synovate/Litmus in the UK, which are now part of IRI. So in fact, Kate was an "IRIer" before she even knew it!
Kate’s vast experience meant she was a natural leader and from starting out as a Client Team Leader she is now our Strategic Partnership Director. Kate has a team of more than 10 people working on insights as well as taking the client relationship to the next level. Kate is highly regarded both at IRI and on the client side.
The thing that stands out for Kate about IRI is our market leading capabilities and innovation, which is led by our desire to deliver value to our clients. The one thing Kate believes has not and should not change at IRI is the people culture. “People are the key ingredient in the success of our business, and the enjoyment of being part of it”.
Kate’s proudest moment is not really a moment but the opportunity to lead talent and capable people from a range of diverse backgrounds. “I get a lot of satisfaction from working together to find new ways to add value to our clients, and tackling business challenges by using our creativity and collective know-how.” Kate feels great when clients share positive feedback on what the team have helped them to achieve.

Alaska started her journey at IRI back in 2015 with 15 years plus experience within manufacturing and retail HR. She led both small and large teams across the globe and was excited to join the Big Data market.
Alaska’s remit initially consisted of Northern Europe, including the UK, France, Germany and the Netherlands. She was later promoted to take on all of Europe which proved challenging but a very positive learning experience. In 2017, Alaska inherited the South African market, and finally in 2018, was promoted to look after the people agenda for the International region which includes Asia Pacific.
